You might be familiar with the saying, "You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make him drink." This proverb has been around for ages. However, have you ever pondered why you can't force a horse to drink? The reason is straightforward: the horse is stronger than you.
So, how does this insightful saying apply to individuals? When you attempt to impart wisdom to an ignorant person, their ignorance often outweighs your intention to be helpful.
You lack the strength to change the mindset of someone who chooses to remain ignorant. Attempting to assist them will only waste both your time and theirs. Just as you can't make a horse drink water, you can't impart wisdom to the unwilling. Without a willing learner, a teacher has no purpose.
I will leave you with these three quotes from the Bible.(Proverbs Chap. 12 v.) The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth (hearken) unto counsel is wise.(Proverbs Chap. 23 v. 9) Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of thy words.(Proverbs Chap. 29 v. 9) If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.
