Have you ever had a thought about what you are thinking about? You are thinking one way, then out of the blue, you have another thought about what you are presently thinking about? Let me give an example of what I mean. A child could have a thought about stealing a piece of candy from a store, then have a second thought about why he should not do what he/she is presently thinking. Or, you want to curse someone out who you think wronged you, then have a second thought of it is better to just walk away.
What part of you is this, that can be thinking, while you are thinking about something else? I am here to tell you that that second thought process is the real you.
The average man and woman (according to Brain Facts) has about 70,000 thoughts per day. That initial thought you have is like a fish that you picked out from a river of thoughts; you think that the fish is part of you because you have taken possession of it.
That second thought originates from the real you that is sitting in a boat on that river of thoughts. The reason you do not know this, is due to the roar of the river with the thousands of thoughts, drowns out the voice of the real you that is sitting in the boat.
Like in the real world, you know when you are in a boat, you are not the boat, and you are not the water.
Just like in the real world, you are not your thoughts. Your thoughts are things that pass thru your mind. They are not real until you decide to take possession of those thoughts and make them real. This is a power that is both good and bad.
I will leave you with this thought.
If you are watching a soap opera on your television, is it true that because the television is showing a soap opera on its screen, the television itself is a soap opera?
